Midland Rockhounds Illuminate Momentum Bank Ballpark with New LED Display The Midland Rockhounds, in partnership with Daktronics, officially unveiled an upgraded LED video board at Momentum Bank Ballpark on March 26, 2026, with the first fan viewing occurring on Opening Day, April 3, 2026. This significant installation replaces an older system, aiming to provide a superior visual experience for attendees and improve the stadium's operational capabilities. Enhanced Fan Engagement Through Advanced Display Technology The decision to upgrade the stadium's primary visual display was driven by a desire to enhance the fan experience and maintain competitiveness within their league. The new Daktronics LED board measures approximately 32.5 feet high by 66 feet wide and features a 10-millimeter pixel spacing, offering a much clearer and more vibrant image than its predecessor. This upgrade is designed to provide a more dynamic and engaging atmosphere for all events held at Momentum Bank Ballpark. Variable Content Zoning and Environmental Durability A key feature of the new Daktronics display is its capability for variable content zoning. This allows the Rockhounds to configure the board to show a variety of content simultaneously, such as live video, statistics, and sponsor advertisements, in different sections of the screen. Daktronics highlighted that the display also includes industry-leading environmental protection, ensuring its reliability and longevity in various weather conditions. The previous board had become increasingly difficult to repair, making this technological leap a necessary investment. Strategic Investment for Future Competitiveness The installation represents a strategic investment by the Midland Rockhounds and the City of Midland to ensure Momentum Bank Ballpark remains a top-tier venue. By integrating modern LED technology, the team aims to improve not only the spectator experience but also the operational efficiency and attractiveness of the facility for future events and sponsorships. The unveiling to the City Council on March 26th underscored the project's importance to local entertainment infrastructure.
