Sony Expands Crystal LED Lineup with S Series in Europe

Sony Electronics has introduced its Crystal LED S Series in Europe, targeting the mid-market with a more cost-conscious dvLED solution for corporate, educational, and commercial facilities.

Sony Crystal LED S Series Arrives in Europe Sony Electronics announced the European availability of its Crystal LED S Series direct-view LED (dvLED) displays in early 2026. This new lineup is designed to capture the mid-market, offering a more cost-effective solution for corporate settings, educational institutions, and commercial facilities. The introduction of the S Series signifies Sony's strategic expansion to meet a broader range of customer needs and budgets within the professional display sector. The S Series aims to bridge the gap between Sony's BRAVIA professional displays and its higher-end dvLED products, providing greater flexibility for integrators and end-users. The Crystal LED S Series includes two models, the ZRD-S12G and ZRD-S15G, featuring pixel pitches of 1.25 mm and 1.56 mm, respectively. These displays offer a maximum brightness of 800 cd/m², making them suitable for brightly lit environments. A key feature is the inclusion of Sony's Anti-Reflection Surface Technology, which ensures rich image expression and accurate color reproduction even in spaces with ambient light or large windows. The modular design allows for seamless, bezel-free video walls of various sizes and configurations. Rich Ventura, Vice President of Professional Display Solutions at Sony Electronics, stated that the S Series furthers Sony's commitment to offering advanced technology with high image quality, exceptional visibility, and long-term reliability. He noted that these new models address common customer requests for more options and support for varying budgets. The slim cabinet design, approximately 45mm thick, simplifies installation and can contribute to meeting European Accessibility Act (EAA) compliance. Sony first showcased the S Series at Integrated Systems Europe (ISE) in Barcelona in February 2026, with availability planned for late spring 2026. The expansion into the mid-market with the S Series reflects a broader industry shift where direct-view LED technology is moving beyond niche applications like command centers and high-end showcases into more mainstream enterprise AV environments. Sony's strategy at InfoComm 2026 also highlighted this, with a focus on making large-format LED more accessible for organizations. The S Series, alongside other new offerings, aims to simplify deployment for enterprise AV and IT teams, indicating a phase of dvLED development focused on practicality and broader adoption. In addition to the S Series, AWE Europe transformed its Show Apartment in Epsom, Surrey, into Europe's first Sony Professional Crystal LED showroom in July 2026. This showroom features a 165-inch Crystal LED display and provides industry professionals with hands-on demonstrations of Sony's dvLED technology. This initiative underscores Sony's efforts to increase the visibility and accessibility of its Crystal LED solutions across the European market, allowing custom installers and system integrators to experience the technology firsthand.
